the manchester evening news is bad news.
so much on the crime rate and safety issues here.
gangs, shooting, robbery... shan't say more.
on a better note, i went town alone today!
had a nice time walking around taking pictures :)
first batch of random photos...
...presenting the streets of manchester~

that's the town hall in the last picture :)
and yes i know i'm not the best photographer around...
abit about school...
there is a huge number of china students here-
and for some reason, all of them speak cantonese o.O
the point is, i'm convinced 75% of them take business modules.
which means i'm surrounded by them during lectures...
oh my...
pretty school entrance-
more pictures of the school... looks really nice no?
city center- piccadilly area;
which houses arndale, the biggest shopping center in the united kingdom;
where i found a chocolate shop which sells the most variety of chocolate i've ever seen-
but wait till i get to the cadbury factory a few weeks later :D
...and for those who complain i never turn up in any photos...
Ooo baby
Wow wow
I love you
Ooo baby
Wow wow
I love you
In my arms In my soul
I love you

i know i owe people entries about what's going on here but seriously, i don't really like logging events.
oh wells...
trips for the weekends planned all the way till november!
going to london, scotland, liverpool among them :)
got to trafford stadium yesterday!
guided tour for 6.5pounds each and we got to see the most stuff including the players' changing rooms and the "tunnel" where they all run out from and onto the pitch~
season tickets costs a few hundred pounds :(
now that my camera's working fine;
shall get more pictures up next time :P
time for a more serious post.
been exactly a week since i got here-
in the space of that week i got to see many new things, meet new people, explore the city and learn to be more independent.
after several orientation sessions, i realised i'm really not a social animal.
i wouldn't introduce myself to others voluntarily, make conversation and join in their parties.
or maybe i'm just a little reserved about speaking to the british in general;
which make up 99% of my neighbours.
apparently parties are the best way to get to know new people and all
but having been to a few and met some people, the entire concept of partying isn't appealing to me at all.
music far too loud, thick smoke, excessive drinking, provocative dressing... nahhh.
guess i'll have to thank all my singaporean, or rather asian friends for being such great company :)
and i don't know whether its a good thing, but i'm taking all my modules with at least a singaporean i know.
the slow british way of life needs time getting used to though
and their disregard for rules and respect =X
FINALLY there's internet in my room! :)
lazy to post pictures up though.
didn't take THAT much too.. still getting to know my camera better;
or more likely too busy doing other constructive stuff (like shopping) :P

went to trafford center last night.
...
(jaw drops)
for all you shopaholics in singapore, you really haven't seen a shopping haven.
but if you don't ignore the currency conversion, you'll never get anything.
i never thought i'd say this so soon-
but i'm loving manchester as it is now :)
greetings from an internet cafe in manchester!
thanks to the semi screwed school system that only allows us to have connections in our rooms from the 18th.
been around the area shopping for necessities these few days.
the nearby sainsbury, singapore's equivalent of carrefour, chanced by salford shopping city, which is a twenty minute bus ride away but cost us sgd$4.80 each way (!!!)
piccadilly was good too. at least i have a place to go for cheap clothes-
should i run out of them.
yes, stuff here is verrrryyyyyyyyyy expensive :(
especially transport-
where four bus stops away cost 1.1 pounds (=sgd$3.30).
after all that, a term pass that cost 68 pounds may seem super value for money in comparison.
and meals cost an average of 2 pounds :((((
other than that, the weather's been really good.
windy 18 degrees yay.
chinatown today, where we had a nice CHINESE buffet lunch for 5.5 pounds. (now you know why i keep ranting about prices here)
and i finally found condensed milk (!) and instant soy milk (!!).
the school buildings are SUPER nice!
walking through them gives me a super victorian feel :)
i love the main entrance~
hostel's okay..
although a little less clean than desired.
spiders here are damn big though.
will post pictures when i get my connection up.
meanwhile, take care everyone!!
i miss bittorrent and kinokuniya :(
me is a tired girl today.
too much shopping squeezed into a period of eight hours o.O
triumph warehouse sale in the morning
then junction 8 after lunch where i bought stuff that i usually wouldn't think of buying
and finally comex, where i bought the most stuff :X
external hdd drive, dvd writer, dvdrs, usb hub and webcams.
in short, i spent almost four hundred bucks today! O.O
less crowded than i thought it would be though;
and i saw howk there (for those who know) haha!
edit:
i feel so stupid and bad :(:(
argh.
