what i'm reading right now.
spent quite some time at kino yesterday after driving...
despite the fact that it was packed with people with the queue snaking all the way to the japanese book counter.
bought two novels (english, nonetheless) for $40.
books are really my major weakness.. contemplated buying SO MANY :X
not been reading much during the break sigh.
been memorising japanese grammar instead... which can be quite irritating (!) when several of the phrases have the same meaning and the guidebook provides zero hint to the difference in usage.
finished a week of training (AR/AP/Inv) and went for group closing dinner on friday.
sinma @ geylang.. with 14 froglegs/2 huge crabs/king prawns/mango fish/6 jugs of beer/other random extras. treat by the manager, and its the first time i've been treated :D
big group too.. yang+wife+kid/gerry/jessie/seesheen/daniel/hy/daphne/metani/pj and yours truly. quite a hearty meal and cheerful banter all around.
was quite afraid of a possible uncomfortable silence, which thankfully didn't materialize on friday :D
continuity next year ahhh.. and NOW yang knows i can speak japanese boo~
please let the next month pass smoothly :(
oh, and let the next 5 months pass quickly too :X
just went for dinner at shokudo @ raffles city for dinner with grace and pj~
first time at the "japanese-marche" place, and with the bns team!
missed them alot alot :)
after a dreary full-day payables course that ended at 430pm, jean and i went to raffles city first to settle down at toast box for a snack since grace hadn't finished her tax course.
haven't really talked past few sentences these few months and ended up bitching about work, seniors, promotion and the upcoming continuity job :S
glad that someone else shares my sentiments about ___ & ___.
promised also to tide through sep-dec together.. since grace's portfolio hasn't come out yet :X fingers crossed she'll get this job back!
grace joined us and we shifted to a cosy booth at shokudo and continued gossiping.
heard some very "jing bao" rumours :X:X
and when you put three bitchy ladies together.. you get the point.
happy :)
lunch with joyce and ester too; slacked in the third floor pantry with vivienne and rina after lunch; passed lots of "qing shu" between me and yanpei :P
monday-
lunched with jinli and xinen at hans @ robinson road, then slacked at mr. tea for my hour and a half lunch!!
the good life :)
can i please fast-forward to august now?
back to work on monday :(
three weeks gone.. just like THAT.
but the good thing is, it hasn't all been wasted.
completed driving, left only with the assessments and then the test! which is only on 22/9... like eons away?
but i like driving. alot :)
been out and about too.
had a haircut which nobody realised, metup with the primary schoolmate that went missing for ten years (!) and found out that we are mutual JOHNNY'S FANS.
how small can the world get?
we were so excited when we realised that, and so began a conversation that centered around pretty boys and jpop :D
her honmei's yamap though, and i HAD to remind her that he's two months younger haha!
she couldn't guess which member of V6 i liked though.. even by elimination, she had to guess ALL the other five :(
another of our ex-schoolmate is also a newly converted fan.
totally unexpected la.. and like it crops up everywhere, the realisation that singapore is really damn damn SMALL.
pasta dinner on weds and starbucks after that.
really typical of the jc gang la...
bad bad headache on thursday.
personal attribution to the heat. its really getting unbearable these days :(
bus ride home, stoned at the laptop, read the papers and crashed in at 9pm.. but ended up sleeping only near midnight sigh.
mahjong just now!
omg, the last time i played was during chinese new year! where i won bigggg :D
but company really matters; took 3.5 hours for 1 round haha! lost a little but on a smaller scale given i only won TWO times in the timeframe :P
enjoyable :)
chilling in town tomorrow evening and east coast on sunday.
lets make it memorable before i return to training on monday ahhhhh D:
filed (yes i know) the credit card bills from nov 07 till may 08 just now-
after leaving them in an untidy heap on the desk for 6 months already.
and...
i've been spending like ALOT la.. casual glance through the bills tells me i have chalked up at least $5K, including $2K for driving, over the past 6 months :(
may not seem alot, given casual comparisons within my circle of friends, but still when you actually calculate the absolute amount, reality strikes.
and i haven't started shopping for apparel to wear for the next working year.
yes i know i shop for clothes annually but,
with the above sum weighing in your mind, its really quite difficult to get any shopping done boo.
but i managed to get a top and shoes today!
speaking of shoes,
i've just realised the newer pair i bought several months ago has a crack across the rubber sole! just like the one before it, which ended up in such a bad state that the sis and mom were shocked :X
i think its me;
who else wears shoes whose soles end up broken in HALF at the end of its life?
sighhh but i like my new shoes! :D
rare nowadays though, that i take a liking to anything in the shops.
...
okay i know i'm slow but 20th century's 「オレじゃないきゃ、キミじゃなきゃ」PV totally blew me away!~!~
didn't take much notice at the fangirls in the communities gushing about it (frankly, PVs don't really hold it for me) but after watching it FINALLY,
its safe to say i looped it at least five times :X:X:X
i'm such a rabid fangirl.
i wonder if this'll EVER pass... but omg inocchi!! *hearts*
lastly,
~HAPPY DADDY DAY~
buffet to celebrate tomorrow evening :)
finally a day totally free without driving!
more than halfway done with the end in sight.. and i'm gonna miss it :(
but seriously, it's impractical to get a car right now, with the petrol prices increasing like nobody's business and ERP gantries popping up like trees all over the country.
despite decrease in ARF and COE recently.
and given the measly salary... well plans just have to be shelved.
and because i'm a "restless workaholic" like they say,
who has been bored out of her mind during the 4 days of leave,
finished reading this!
don't give me the -.-" look,
coz its really interesting!
been trying to find a book with a concise history and this is it!
and... what's the additional allure?
tadah!
direct translation!
AND i realised how much the japanese has deteriorated since CFA took over the last 6 months of my life :S
spent another $40 at kino yesterday.
intended to ONLY get the wind-up bird chronicle, BUT not only ended up forgoing that, ended up with the above and oe kenzaburo's nobel prize-winning literature novel.
blame it on the storewide 20% discount :(
shall stop ranting about the boring life.
.

.so.dead.
so i didn't have a good sleep last night (ie 2 godly hours) and it was off to expo..
for a paper which even topped my imagination of a horrible paper.
yes,
this overtakes the french paper previously at the top of my cannot-understand-wtfs-going-on list.
like there was already so much material to digest;
and they had to come up with terms i have no remote-est idea of.
wtf's a sovereign yield? and safety-first ratio!?
120 mcqs to kill you from 9am to 12noon-
and ANOTHER 120 mcqs to stab at your dead body from 2pm to 5pm.
all dotted and peppered with "what's the effect on operating/financing cash flow if expenses were capitalized instead of written off"; "does both NPV/IRR and IRR/PI require conflicting investment decisions"; "does the zero-rated coupon bond have rates that lie on the treasury spot rate curve" blah...
sigh,
but its the CFA exam anyway. and of course they need to live up to the name of a 30% passing rate annually :/
at least the f/s analysis and derivatives parts was okay..
and i've found a new nemesis.
BONDS.
ewwwwww esp the part on measuring interest rate risk :(
...
estimated 10-15% of candidates didn't turn up today and the expected turnout was 5,800.
you would think singapore would be flooded with CFA charters by now-
and the exam is like $1,600??
oh wait, there are like 66,000 millionaries in singapore?
well.. its over and i have ZERO confidence in passing.
give me my JLPT anyday :(
new meaning to the word restlessness.
i am just NOT made for studying.. 15mins and i switch off.... and take probably half a day or so to switch back.
like that how to digest 6 huge textbooks/8.5kgs worth of paper?
tmr's THE day.
6hr paper throughout the day and i will be freeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
...to finally touch up on the neglected-for-too-long japanese for JLPT this december :)
lessons or not?
you can tell i've already given up on this exam.
oh,
marmalade pantry yesterday was good :)
happy birthday ya? although it was quite a non-descript meetup :P
first time in a long while.
V6 released a single 2 wednesdays ago and i just realised?
previous sources all gone-
which makes me a very irritated girl right now.
especially after watching the music station performance.. which exhausted half my brain cells to paw through hundreds of websites to find it :(
all these when i should be studying.
but its ok.. i wouldn't have done otherwise anyhow.
such is the lack of resolve which i am already flippant about.
but,
in an attempt to retain some shred of conscience,
back to taxes and leases.
started my 3-wk leave stretch by sacrificing the first day to go back to ellipsiz..
to be there for the manager to I-off review points... and i totally regret it.
the only thing that came out good was me providing moral support to my G1, who almost totally cracked :(
bloody hell P-unit people *shakes fist*
went back to office at 9pm.
demoralized enough to keep the half-an-hour cab ride in silence.
had timsum for dinner @ laupasat before preparing our stuff to hand over to the senior. fortunately the senior is nice, although too busy to take a good look at our work before throwing it to the manager-
resulting in this mess.
argh.. stoned around abit in office and left AFTER midnight.
after working on thursday till almost 1am, friday almost there, saturday AND sunday-
is it worth the fuck?
fortuantely 2 hours doing admin with the previous senior and light-hearted talk on sunday evening cleared my head a little.
cabbed back with jane and eric and spilled all our grievances and the screwed-up cross unit engagement arrangement.
still shagged out.
but must study!
